In truth, today's world isn't like our mom and dad's day. However, something that I believe is common, regardless of the era, is that navigating life as a single person can sometimes feel isolating. Yet, this stage of life offers incredible opportunities for personal growth and spiritual development. I need you to understand that being single is not simply a waiting period; it can be a fulfilling journey filled with purpose and community. Let’s explore how embracing your faith and your community can enrich your single life, turning it into an adventure of self-discovery and connection.
'86 the notion of "finding your better half" or "the one that completes me". You are already complete in the sense of your personality, your experiences, even in your faith walk. You are complete and might I add, the Lord has said that "It is good". Everything that God completes, He calls it good. You don't need another person to complete you. Change your perspective. You want someone to compliment what God has already completed.
Go on a journey with me, as we navigate finding our purpose and building healthy and lasting relationships.
Embracing Your Season of Singleness...
Being single is not equivalent to being alone, although there are times that it feels lonely (we will touch on this later). Instead, it is a chance to enjoy a unique stage of life where you can focus on self-reflection, areas to improve and spiritual growth. Rather than seeing singleness as a drawback, consider it an ideal time to build a strong foundation for future relationships. Both Godly and intimate.
During this period, deepen your spiritual journey.
Spend time reading the Word of God: Not out of routine or obligation. Whatever book, chapter, verse I read, I approach it with questions. Doing this assists me to see the scriptures in a different perspective and allows my curiosity to increase. research shows that individuals who read their Bibles regularly report higher levels of joy. Joy and happiness are not the same. Joy isn't predicated on if someone rocks your nerves or someone gets out of pocket with you. Joy isn't determined by external situations. Joy is internal and all hell can be breaking loose, but joy always has a way of rearing up anyway.
Engage in prayer and worship, reflecting on how God is guiding you specifically in this season: The way you perceive your circumstances can significantly influence your experiences. What I love about God is that He doesn't have to change my situation, however, He will change my perspective in the situation. Outlooks on life change in your private time with God. In those moments where it's you and Him. Those moments can happen anywhere; at home (preferably, it's safer), on the way to work (if you start crying I highly recommend pulling over...immediately), even at work. Wherever you have your moments with the Lord, allow His perfect work to have its way.
Finding Purpose Through Faith...
Faith is a vital tool for uncovering purpose throughout your spiritual and natural journey. It’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed when life starts "life-ing". However, turning to God can help you identify activities that nourish your spiritual well-being. Finding your tribe has a major effect in how your spirit is being fed as well. We're not in church 24/7 and part of singleness is navigating more than waiting. It's being able to have a support that you can call on in those moments when feelings (which may be justified at the moment...or not) want to take a turn when they shouldn't.
As you build your relationship with God, you will discover unique paths meant just for you. For instance, many people find clarity through prayer or small groups, which foster personal development and deeper faith walk. The Gospel teaches us about our inherent value, helping us rise above society's pressure to foster healthy relationships. Studies indicate that 76% of people who actively engage in their faith report a stronger sense of purpose.
But Crystal, what is purpose? I'm glad someone asked the question. Purpose, in it's most simple form, is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. In other words, your were created to do something in the Earth that no one else can do but you. You are the solution to a problem. You are the answer to questions. You have purpose.
Building a Supportive Community...

One of the most rewarding aspects of being single is the ability to build meaningful relationships before any serious thoughts of "I do". Surround yourself with fellow believers who can offer support, encouragement, and accountability. Participating in local church groups or volunteering can help you forge strong connections.
At Rhema Tabernacle, we take time to give back to the community through outreach. It's in moments of outreach that you get to help others while helping yourself.
Outreach has a way of reaching in and building you up while you build comradery with like-minded people. This is one step that yields many results.
These relationships can lead to new friendships and enriching experiences. Sharing your journey with others creates opportunities for deep discussions about faith and life. Supporting one another through challenges, alongside celebrating both small victories and significant achievements, builds a robust community.
Let me be the first to welcome you to the blog-stimonies. Together, we will build a community of like minded intellectuals who desire deeper depths and higher heights in God, in their faith and their community. Let's explore what singleness entails and keep each other lifted in prayer. Love you!
